Momentum

Momentum is based in Kingston and is a charity supporting children with cancer and life-limiting conditions, and their families. The charity was founded in 2004 and at any one time, they support over 150 families.

Momentum supports the entire family during times of unimaginable strain throughout the whole journey for as long as the family need them.

Momentum offers individually-tailored support through their family support programme, providing emotional and practical help as well as a range of therapy services including music. They aim to ease some of the stresses that come with a gruelling treatment plan. They also work hand in hand with local hospitals to improve the facilities and healing environment for children during hospital stays.

In June 2018, we donated £2000 to Momentum to support funding of music therapy for the 6 children diagnosed with Cancer or another life limiting illness at their home.

Momentum believe that Music therapy can help a recently diagnosed child with:

Improving physical health and ability
Addressing emotional and behavioural difficulties
Developing communication and social skills

One course of 6 sessions of music therapy costs £324.
